Introduction to Paper Making and Pressing & Drying Flowers

In this workshop, you will learn to make hand made paper, add flowers, raw cotton and colours to make beautiful stationery. Learn to prepare your pulp, pull sheets of paper, press, dry, add seeds for plantable gift tags, or try embossing the wet paper ; the ideas for using the paper are endless.

Loving flowers to keep forever ! We will show you how to dry and press flowers quickly and easily. You will make and take home a number of handmade pieces of paper and projects that you make. Using a traditional Mould and Deckle (one per person) you will create a sculptured handmade bowl.

In all workshops, everything is provided.

Teaching handmade paper includes the whole process beginning to end, and people can blend their pulps on the spot using textures of their choice. We advise people to wear comfy shoes as they are on their feet a lot.

Meet your Teacher

Susan is a lover of all things paper and founder of 'Born in Paper'.

It is fair to say that Susan's obsession for the beautiful textures, colours, even the smell of printing and paper, has quite literally been ingrained in her since birth. Growing up in a family printing business in Byron Bay meant she was hands on with everything ; binding note pads, collating, sorting lead type or dusting gold and silver wedding stationery.

For years, Susan was taking office waste from her work place and recycling it into handmade papers. Now, Susan shares her passion with her 'Born in Paper' workshops ; those who attend often say that it is a workshop they don't want to end !
