Waste Not Dowry Bag – Sat 21 Aug 2021
Waste Not, Want Not Stitching - Dowry Bag
Slow stitching; time to be creative exploring cloth and stitch whilst producing a useful little bag.
The bag is inspired by the shape of an Indian Dowry Bag- great to keep your jewellery and treasures safe, or your phone chargers when travelling or the perfect presentation for a gift. We will use a pile of offcut khadi [Indian hand spun, hand woven cotton fabric] that is naturally dyed and thread, these are supplied for the workshop.
Please bring your own needles and a small pair of scissors.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER: Fiona Wright has lived and worked in India for the last 12 years developing "The Stitching Project"- a workshop focused on creating as much work for as many hands as possible. That is, training women to be able to work in the workshop or work from home. Recently returned to Australia she still runs the workshop through the magic of Zoom!
